ABOUT ROTARY
Rotary
strives to serve others in an effort to make the world a better place. Rotarians focus their efforts through four “Avenues of Service”: Community, International, Vocation and Club Service.
Community Service efforts are directed toward improving the quality of life in our local communities. Assistance is provided to youth, seniors and the disabled both directly and working through other organizations which assist the less fortunate. Improving the well-being of the community through participation in community events is also a priority.
International Service includes a wide range of programs and activities directed toward improving understanding between peoples and helping the less fortunate wherever they may live. These efforts are often undertaken on a multi-club basis and supported financially by Rotary Foundation. Just one example is Rotary’s efforts in conjunction with the United Nations to eradicate polio.
Vocational Service is designed to promote interest in the dignity of all occupations and vocations. Service efforts include “mentoring” programs for youth and the promotion of business ethics.
Club Service includes all the activities necessary to ensure that each individual Rotary club functions successfully.
